Lipstick and Apple Tricks

I was frantically leaving my apartment this afternoon.  The thought of taking my jacket, adding seconds onto what already seemed like a lifetime of preparations to get out of the door, and into some kind, any kind, of solace; was too daunting a task.  So I ditched the jacket.  Not before checking the pockets for my lip balm, my car keys, my gum.  Two out of the three were there, the gum stays in my car (back up pack on hand in my backpack for the stressful times, which there inevitably will be).

Solace I found, in way of a Giant Eagle visit with my Grandma.  The grocery store and I are not friends.  I wait weeks to go.  If I can find someone to go with me, or someone who needs me to take them, I'm better for it.  Too many choices and decisions to make.  Overwhelming? Yes. Fun? No.

I can't go without my vegan lip balm. Or my car keys, thus I can't live without my car.  Or my orbit white bubblemint flavored, sugar free [save me from smoking again] gum.  I can't live without caffeine, or my phone.  But take anything else away--material wise--and I'll be okay.

I feel like sometimes we get essential things from essential people.  The people may come and go, but the memories, those belongings we can't live without, and the lessons we learn from them.  In those ways: They will stay with us forever.
